CTA Lab is seeking a Laboratory Tester (Full-Time) and Geoscientist Intern (Full-Time) in the asphalt, aggregate and concrete labs.
Every task within the laboratory requires regular handling of 25kg samples (approximately). Work will require regular repetition of work manually and semi-automatic because this is a laboratory testing asphalt.

• Geoscientist Intern – Full-Time (June/July 2026) - $19 - $45/hr + $500, based on experience. Direct Supervision under Engineer and Certified Engineer Technician

Laboratory Tester ($18.75/hr during probation then $22/hr+ benefits+$500 bonus
CTA Lab is seeking Full-Time Laboratory Tester in the asphalt materials lab for in-person employment.
Terms of Employment:
Full-time opportunities available in-person. Start date May/June 2026** .
Job Description:
1. Assist with swift station reset;
2. Asphalt testing;
3. Working with and providing support to other members with laboratory test; and
4. Performing other related duties regularly as assigned.
This asphalt laboratory handles samples nominally 25kg in weight. Successful applicant should be comfortable in following standard test methods with ease repetitively and with accuracy. Individuals can expect manual and semi-automatic tasks.
Qualification:
- No asphalt experience required, will train;
- Has completed high school, some education in applied science is an asset.
- Numeracy skills, strong organizational, self-initiator, multi-tasking skills is an asset; lift up to 25 kg;
- Strong skills in quick math;
- Strong skills in time management;
- Able to complete repetitive tasks with accuracy;
- Able to operate manual hammers and non manual machines safely, with training;
- A quick learner is required.
- Swiftly supporting team members is a requirement;
- Accuracy in execution through hands-on training and supervision by full-time members; and
- Availability to work seasonally throughout 2026.

Geoscientist Intern ($19-45/hr + $500, based on experience)
CTA Lab is seeking Geoscientist Intern in the asphalt, aggregate and concrete materials lab.
Successful Geoscientist Intern will receive direct mentorship from a Professional Engineer who has been practising as an engineer for over 10 years, with certifications in asphalt, aggregate, concrete testing and is a quality petrographic analyst (rock/geology identification). Interested applicant should have interest to work towards their designation for a minimum of 4 years. After completing 4 years individual can expect a full-time position to work alongside the other project managers in acquiring projects.
Terms of Employment:
Full-time opportunities available in-person. Rate of pay based on experience. Start date June/July 2026 .
Job Description:
1. Support the day-to-day asphalt, aggregate and concrete testing;
2. Assist with some design and investigations under engineer supervision;
3. Involved in technical knowledge exchange and client inspections;
4. Learn the provincial and regional standards;
5. Embody out core values in quality testing, client focus, team work and sustainability in the projects handled; and
6. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualification:
- University education in geography, geology, related physical science or applied science;
- Some knowledge in aggregate testing is an asset.
- Some knowledge in asphalt is an asset;
- Proven communication skills;
- Detailed-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn;
- Demonstrated ability to work with others and to independently complete work as assigned;
- Numeracy skills, strong organizational, self-initiator, time-management and multi-tasking skills is an asset; lift up to 25 kg;
- Eligibility or intent to register with the provincial governing body; and
- Availability to work throughout 2026.
